WAKE
I attended a wake today - Mother crying, relatives mourning - the loss of another loved one. 2 in a year. Devastation for the family.
White chairs, I see - white chairs. Lian Heng… shameless marketing ploy. Black against white. Have the dead no dignity?
More filing in - Hey there, Hi, How are you, Did you see - have you heard - Terrible - I wish - I miss - Tragic, undeserved, WHY?
I take a walk. Hand in hand. Around. I touch not the agony that is mahogany. I turn away and pretend.
Dedicated to the memory of my favourite teacher of all time, the late Ms. Rosalind Jacob. I will always remember the conversations we had in your office, with the hollow-sounding floors, and the beautifully labelled files, and the computer screensaver that tirelessly redrew picture after picture as we chatted about anything and everything and nothing in particular. I miss you already.
