lundi, janvier 08, 2007 High School Musical: WATCH IT NOW!  ZOMGZOMGZOMG this is the one of the happiest things I've seen in a while. I have a sneaky feeling I'm supposed to be embarassed by enjoying the songs so much because it's freaking DISNEY, but this new-millennium Grease is really, honestly, truly, madly, deeply, worth every single cent you're going to spend on scores and soundtracks.The movie's plot is simple and timeless - boy meets girl at non-school event, fall in love with each other's true self, someone transfers and they wind up at the same school, but they find out that their roles in the school social hierarchy doesn't match who they were on holiday! So what happens? Lots of wholesome singing about wholesome themes like how you need to live beyond your own comfort zone and dream big, how the world doesn't see you as who you really are, about peer pressure and being squeezed into social roles, the conflict between what you "ought to do" and what you "really are"... the wholesome-ness will make your teeth melt and your gums ache and your insides all fuzzy wuzzy, but seriously dudes, the music is is something you don't want to miss. And an amazing thing is that they recorded the entire soundtrack in just five days! And in contrast to the really strange romances that seem to be all the rage in tvland (obsessive, maniac, twisted, or just plain weird), the romance in this movie's light, sweet and fluffy, and the two leads actually have chemistry together! Which bodes well for High School Musical II, which is already in pre-production, since Disney knows a moneymaker when it sees one. Watch it watch it watch it watch it watch it watch it!
