The Country Music Television awards just called it, and I'm happy to say that Alison Krauss and Robert Plant got some nods her way - whole load of simple but awesome swinging bluegrass here.
I'm also happy to report that I called it first - Taylor Swift (completely hot blonde) won best video of the year for "Our Song". It's a great song - completely happy-happy and so teenage wholesome goodness that it should make you vomit... but it really doesn't.
Video collaboration of the year went to the unlikely pairing between Jon Bon Jovi and LeAnn Rimes (looking very much older than when Piper was dancing on the bartops at Coyote Ugly - actually, she looks strangely like Diane Lane in the MTV), for Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore.
Group Video went to the completely overlooked Rascal Flatts - who usually rock, but to be honest, the MTV wasn't too impressive. There was no plot, no story to the MTV - a helicopter breaking up a beach party (which looked more like an alien abduction party, to be honest with you), this guy gets into a car with a pretty girl he was eyeing, and they drive off into the country, park by a pictureque lake or tree, and go walking hand-in-hand. Oh, and the sun comes up, and we see that the "party" is actually at the edge of a cliff. The couple kisses (with so many close-ups of her flat stomach it would give anyone the strong urge to become anorexic) and then the sound of helicopters again, and then - we're back to the point of time where the girl picks the guy up at the party? Whaaaaaa...?
And the song was rather meh as well. Guess you can't win them all.
