dimanche, septembre 13, 2009 After a prototype was improved on, this is the final product for Kris's jiemei's obi belt: And because I know some of you guys are curious, here's some photos of the process:   measuring out the backing strip and the brocade This is done with high tech equipment: (a) 10 year old scissors, (b) blunt wood pencil, and (c) measuring tape from secondary school. The backing strip is 44", and the strips are 4" wide, cut perpendicular to the selvage. The brocade is 60", and the strips are 10-11" wide (approximately, I wasn't so strict with the brocade.)   strips all cut out, and the sewing setup Once the cloth was in place, and the backing strip cut out, it was time to go to the mattresses with the design. My (mom's) sewing machine, all the thread, bobbins, needles etc - the works.   the accessories - ribbon and string, and the finished product The tie should be in the front, so I'm shifting things around on the belt; what you see here is a prototype.   the adjustable fastening Because I'll only be able to get to the bridemaids on the actual wedding day itself, the fastenings have to be adjustable.
